Project Description
Long saphenous vein
Concern
Visible varicose veins around the calf that were causing symptoms.
Consultation
Assessment and duplex ultrasound which confirmed that the visible veins were being fed by an incompetent main vein in the thigh.
Treatment
During the same appointment, the incompetent main thigh vein was treated with a Clarivein catheter and the visible veins were injected with foam. No anaesthaesia was required. The procedure took around 30 minutes and the patient was able to resume normal activities straightaway.
